Spec designs for famous jazz musician. I had to make a halftone of an online photo and then get creative from there.

Woah…Woah…Okay so heres another mixtape collaboration with DJ SHANX…we did some major engineering…

Here is the initial rough of the cover…I took the basic shapes and contours of the Dallas auditorium and created a vector logo of it and incorporated it into the logo…and next I tried to recreate the NBA logo and incorporate DJ elements (Headphones, Mics, Speakers, Etc.)

I had to do several comps of the NBA type logo…we went from headphones, speakers, microphones. We had some small problems tryin to read the headphones on the first draft…So we did a couple other versions and finagling decided to stick with a mic version of the NBA symbol…

On the Second revision we added some more texture by adding the hardwood floor and more background elements…So here is the final result…

Client Case File 002: DJ SHANX…ARIZEMAG.COM

As result of me hanging out and enjoying my passion for music and networking…DJ Shanx reached out to me (Thank You Homeboy) and blessed me with the opportunity to design the mixtape cover for the upcoming mixtape West Coast Wonders sponsored by Arize Magazine…He basically told me “Go Left Field With It…” so I pumped everything I could into the design. Keeping West Coast in mind…I haven’t forgot the bay…I just kept in mind what people know of the west coast when they think about it….as my mentor Will93 (Update you nickname man!) says…”The west coast includes SanDiego, LA, SF Bay, Seattle, and Portland…None the less…Shanx was happy…Let me know what yall think…

Shout Out 3: Franky Bananas

I wanted to give a shout out to Franky of Franky Bananas. I had the honor of talking with the owner about what he did to get started and the thought process behind the designs…Its funny what belief can do for a person if the really desire to make things happen is what I took form the conversation…He’s a cool dude and another interesting thing is the product comes in a box….I wish I had pic…but anywho…here is a blurb from them and some pics…

“FRANKY BANANAS” is a counterculture brand based out of Orange County, California. Nicely tucked away in between Los Angeles and San Diego in the Southern California area.
We design tees, sweatshirts, hoodies, hats, and bags.
Our designs are heavily influenced by various sub/cultures from graffiti ,skate, music, movies and other forms of daily living. Built by the experiences of a group of individuals, with different backgrounds and upbringing, they have managed to put together a brand that is dedicated to bringing appealing yet raw, distinctive art form in their designs.
